I got to mile marker 110 on 85 a little after 1pm today, and it was a parking lot. There was no change in that for roughly 26 miles. The reason for that? Rubberneckers in the thousands, prompted by an accident that was well into the median. Thanks to having the GPS with me, I was able to circumvent part of that by taking side roads.
That same kind of magnification twice more on the way to Concord turned what is normally a 4 hour trip into 6 hours. Delaying me enough to hit rush hour in Charlotte and Spartanburg didn't help either.
